a frame in time:
2 story brick building with all the windows covered, boarded up with plywood and 2x4’s and miscellaneous scraps of wood.
it is a photo. i know because there is no variation in light, no wind, no smell, no movement of any kind. no life of any kind.
i pan across the scenery. (oh, so it’s more of a panorama shot.) i can move my field of vision. (interesting!) and i can...

“The documents published by WikiLeaks detailed for the world the widespread use of torture by Iraqi and Afghan security forces and the silent complicity of Washington. They confirmed that civilians, including children, are routinely murdered by occupation forces and that the killings are not investigated. The documents lifted the veil on our undeclared, black war in Pakistan, including drone...

“Let me explain what I mean. A Middle Eastern despot now knows for sure when his time in power is well and truly up. He knows it when his bankers in Zurich or Geneva cease accepting his transfers and responding to his confidential communications and instead begin the process of “freezing” his assets and disclosing their extent and their whereabouts to investigators in his...

“It’s a lean time in America. Congress is debating cuts in education and housing. The states are trying to close budget shortfalls. But someone is off in the corner, gorging on pie. That someone is the Pentagon, which aims to add $8 billion to its 2011 budget and a 3 percent increase in baseline spending for 2012. The military wants $553 billion and that DOESN’T even COUNT what...

Matt Taibbi: "Why Isn’t Wall Street in Jail?" →
“Nobody goes to jail,” writes Matt Taibbi in the new issue of Rolling Stone magazine. “This is the mantra of the financial-crisis era, one that saw virtually every major bank and financial company on Wall Street embroiled in obscene criminal scandals that impoverished millions and collectively destroyed hundreds of billions, in fact, trillions of dollars of the world’s wealth.” Taibbi...

Removing Fingerprints Wrongfully Placed: Prayer...
Let all fingerprints wrongfully placed on your life,
lift up and fly away…
Let all wrongfully placed fingerprints from others’
intents and actions, words and wrongs…
be completely wafted away, disintegrating
into tiniest dots of protons and neutrons now.
Send these vestiges that cannot live
without you entertaining them,
send them off now, to wait safely

freedom.
sometimes i feel alone… and then i feel it
a fire burning in my heart
freedom. if this is your first taste
breathe it in,
deep
savoring it
again.
this is the freedom of which i speak
it feels like being born
and the taste
is oh so sweet
it’s the ability to love,to live,to work,to move,to speak,to sing,to pursue
true happiness
it feels like being in love
freedom.

Since the US is experiencing financial troubles, and the banks/financial institutions the tax payers bailed out have now returned to full vigor experiencing record profits, how about they pay the tax payers back? (…with interest of course? ;)
It’s not a long term solution (like cutting the proportionately giNormous piece of the budget pie, defense) but it’s a start.

“However, as the events in Cairo, and now Wisconsin, show us, this is a moment of extraordinary possibility. It is a time for global, nonviolent challenge to anti-democratic forces, wherever they may be—forces that have enriched themselves while promising stability based on coercion, suppression of rights and profound corruption.”
