On the Wrong Side of History in the Middle East →
by Adil E. Shamoo
“As an Arab-American raised in Middle East, I was always baffled by America’s claim of being the beacon of freedom and democracy while consistently supporting regimes in the Middle East headed by kings and dictators who killed, imprisoned, starved, tortured and on occasion raped their people in order to stay in power. Unfortunately, this policy remains the same...

Fun movie! The music is a blast!
If this is your kind of flick, don’t miss the extra scenes on the DVD that had to be cut due to film length.
As I was mucking around found this. Figured now is as good a time as ever to post it. It’s from 11/2010. Not exactly in line with my jubilant mood at the moment. (Freedom is AFOOT! :D) But, maybe, in a way… still appropriate.

I can speed right through… glaze right over… most of these questions. I’ve been analyzing myself for over 20 years now. So, I’m pretty damn good at short pithy answers. If I don’t want to look at something I’ve got “the move” to push that sucka right under the rug. Then I get to the 30 second elevator pitch. LOL! F*ck! Ego...

The most powerful effect that Tunisia might have, suggests Leslie Campbell of NDI, is simply to show that “it can be done” — that authoritarian regimes are vulnerable in the face of popular uprisings.

The constant disregard for The US Constitution essentially gives our government an open ticket to do whatever it wants without any obligation to the people. Many of those who disregard The Constitution consider it an antiquated document that is not fit for addressing “modern-day” problems. On the contrary, The Constitution was specifically written with the intention of addressing the...

Last night Charisse asked me why I thought dogs relentlessly attacked people who are afraid of them. I had no idea. And I still don’t.
But it did get me thinking about it… and my job at the Post Office. You see, it was while working as a carrier for the Post Office that I regularly came across “vicious” dogs. Dogs that did in fact go out of their way to attack me. Dogs that I’m sure could feel my...

So, when you catch him in the act back there you don’t need to be so rough on him. He just needs to sit with it… the...

the truth is there is no lucky bastard out there who has it better than you do.
we’re all in the same boat. you can point at something and say, “hey, they’re better off than me.” but you cannot see the whole picture. you cannot see what invisible burdens they may carry.
you can certainly make your life harder. you can make it more miserable.
and you can make it easier....
it is an odd thing to have someone look through your eyes. to see what you see… and then take that extra leap of thinking what you think. i’ve always enjoyed seeing things from a new perspective, someone else’s perspective. it is quite a different thing to have someone so completely see yours. it is a good feeling, sort of.
