feels actually like…
i’ve gone full circle in a way ‘cause the funk got me to the hip hop…
the hip hop got me to klezmer…
i found myself and then from there i found…
this klezmer hip hop stuff…
and now i just started doing work with fred wesley…
he’s my absolute hero… he’s the reason i got into music…
so it feels like i had to go through this weird process
to get back to what i love…
which is funk music…
but now i come to it with something to offer.

i love the way they blame all their problems on illegal aliens. i love the way the cop looks like a skin head. i love the way they want to militarize the police. i love the way they divide human beings into good and bad determined by a line… drawn in the dirt. i love the way they create belonging and unity by separating people into “us” and “them”. i love how this separation will justify killing “thems.” i love the way this fence is just as much a wall that locks “us” in. i love how this loss of freedom is embraced in the name of creating security and peace when it will only increase insecurity and violence. i love the predictable hate propaganda that begins a few years beforehand so the locals feel completely justified in horrific acts of violence. i love the war this wall will begin. i love that many of “us” will be labelled “them” because of our beliefs in freedom, liberty, and justice. i love the way the federal government has set arizona up for this. i love the way the federal ‘war on drugs’ has exacerbated the problem. i love the way it’s easier to blame and kill than to listen and consider another point of view. i love the way the problem is never as simple and one sided as presented. i love the consistent striving to separate into opposing “teams” constantly at war whether it’s a competition of ideals, profits, sport or incendiaries. i love the way hate is so simple everyone gets it. i love that kids’ are watching these commercials, too… and we don’t want to leave any child behind on a personal value this important, right?

If I could give you the world
On a silver platter
Would it even matter
You’d still be mad at me
If I can find in all this
A dozen roses
Which I would give to you
You’d still be miserable
In reality
I’m gon be who I be
And I don’t feel no faults
For all the lies that you bought
You can try as you may
Break me down when I say
That it ain’t up to you
Gon on do what you do
Chorus:
Hate on me hater
Now or Later
Cause I’m gonna do me
You’ll be mad baby
(Go head and hate)
Go head and hate on me hater
I’m not afraid of
What I got I paid for
You can hate on me…
Ooh if I gave you peaches
Out of my own garden
And I made you a peach pie
Would you slap me out?
Wonder if I gave you diamonds
Out of my own womb
Would you feel the love in that
Or ask why not the moon
If I gave you sanity
For the whole of humanity
Had all the solutions for the pain and pollution
No Matter where I live
Despite the things I give
You’ll always be this way
So go ahead and …
(Chorus x 2)
You Cannot…
Hate On me
Cause my mind is free
Feel my destiny
So Shall it Be

It seems to me the Divine is more interested in how well we’re loving one another than if the fleshy bits between our legs match or not.
In the eternal scheme of things, it’s seems a rather minor detail.
Did they learn? check. Did they forgive? check. Were they courageous? check. Did they laugh? check. Were they compassionate? check. Well, did their navels match? Woops! One’s an outy and the other’s an inny.
Just isn’t right… that’s it. It’s not just… to measure the quality of love in someone’s heart (and the validity of their relationship) by the shape of their personal urinary device.
“Congress has the responsibility to protect the rights of all U.S. citizens. We must reject the notion that protecting the constitutional rights of some citizens requires revoking the rights of other citizens.”
- Congressman Dennis Kucinich
“The U.S. Constitution cannot be amended for convenience. The constitutional rights of all U.S. citizens must be protected. The U.S. government cannot act as judge, jury, and executioner. It was unacceptable when detainees at Guantanamo were held without due process, especially since many were later exonerated. It is unimaginable that the U.S. would then replace detainment with outright killing.”
- Congressman Dennis Kucinich
